At Dnevi Slovenske Informatike (DSI) 2026, Tome Eftimov, together with Ana Nikolić and Matevž Ogrinc, presented the vision and ongoing activities of the AutoLearn-SI ERA Chair Project, focusing on raising awareness of Automated Machine Learning (AutoML) approaches among stakeholders from research, industry, and the public sector.

During the presentation, the team shared the technical report from the first AutoLearn-SI stakeholder workshop, highlighting key findings about the current adoption of AutoML technologies. The results indicate that although many participants are familiar with the concept of AutoML, only 27% have actually experimented with AutoML approaches in practice, suggesting a significant gap between awareness and real-world adoption.

The presentation also addressed bias handling in AI systems, a topic explored within the national ARIS project DATA-TRUST. Survey results revealed that only 27.3% of respondents routinely evaluate bias in their AI workflows, emphasizing the need for stronger awareness and practical tools to support the development of responsible and trustworthy AI systems.

In addition, the audience was informed about the upcoming AutoML Conference 2026, which will take place in Ljubljana at the end of September 2026. The conference will bring together leading researchers and industry representatives to discuss recent advances and future directions in automated machine learning.
